To access Audio Description, you need a smartphone (iPhone or Android) or a tablet (iPad or Android). Download one of the following apps from the App Store or Google Play: BioHjälpen, BioPlay, MovieTalk, SubTalk, or VoiceVision.
Start the app and search for a film that offers audio description. Press "Download" and follow the instructions in the app.
Cineast collaborates with the SubReader service, which reads subtitles aloud. This solution helps people with dyslexia and others with reading difficulties watch our films.
To use SubReader, you need an Android or iOS device, as well as a TV or computer to watch the film on.
Here’s how to do it:
-
Download the SubReader app from the App Store or Google Play. Open the app and press "Sign Up" to create an account. If you have logged in before, press the "Log In" button.
-
Create an account by entering your phone number or email address. You will receive a verification code sent to your phone or email.
-
Once you enter the code, you will be inside the app. Here you can choose one of the recommended films or search for the film you want to watch. You can search directly on Cineasterna by selecting the streaming service at the top of the app, or search generally using the search icon, which also provides results from other streaming services. Choose films with the Cineasterna logo (see the icon in the upper left corner) on the film you want to watch. Once you have selected your film from Cineasterna, you will enter the player.
-
Now it’s time to synchronize the film’s audio or manually adjust the subtitles so the reading aligns correctly with the film.
-
Autoplay: Start the film and turn the volume up slightly. Press synchronize and let the app listen for a few seconds.
-
Manual adjustment: If you are setting it manually, enter the time from the film (minutes and seconds) and press play simultaneously on both the film and the app.
-
Now you can listen to the subtitles being read aloud and choose different voices, speech speed, etc., at the bottom of the player. If the reading is not perfectly synchronized, you can use the arrows (0.5s) to jump forward or backward by about 0.5 seconds to get it right.
